Ancient and Modern
Changing

With the roll-out of the vaccine and the relaxing of restrictions allowing hospitality and cultural venues to re-open, we are looking ahead with our plans to safely re-open Guide Bridge Theatre.

Our first events will be intimate affairs with two one-act plays taking place each night on an impromptu lounge stage in front of a maximum audience of just 32 people (eight tables, up to four people per table).

Both plays are full of great humour and poignancy, and penned by local playwright Martin Paul Roche. Ancient & Modern is written with a nod to Alan Bennett's Talking Heads and Victoria Wood's Kitty from Cheadle, whilst Changing is a modern comedy of errors. We're sure you'll love them both.

Ancient & Modern

A woman of routines and standards, opinionated and unforgiving, Stella is now of an age whereby she realises she is from a different age. Until one Christmas Eve, when the extremes of her ancient and modern worlds collide and Stella is forced to face the most painful truth of all: home truth.

Lisa lives by structure and organisation; she believes life is about being at the appointed place at the appointed time. At least she did until Keith walked into the doctors surgery where she works, throwing her ordered regime into chaos. Could her chosen path be holding her back? Is it possible a little flux could turn the life she wants into the life she needs...

Ticket buyers will be booking one of eight tables, with up to 4 people per table.

As part of our safety measures, we will be providing table service for these events and ask that you pre-order your first drinks when you buy your tickets.
