"The world is ending. The bar is open. The quiz must go on."
It’s the end of the world. The last night on Earth. An asteroid is heading straight for us and there’s nothing we can do about it. Except for maybe host a pub quiz – which is what landlady Kathy and her quizmaster Rav are doing. But, with time ticking, some unexpected guests explode onto the scene – Bobby wants to settle old scores and Fran wants one last shot at love.
The Last Quiz Night on Earth is an innovative and immersive comedy-drama for four actors featuring a fully interactive pub quiz for the audience – real teams, real questions and real swapping each other’s answers for marking! This exciting interactive play will be performed live in the Guide Bridge Theatre Bar to intimate audiences.
Casting Requirements:
Kathy – Female, 40s to 60s (around 20 years older than Rav). Larger than life pub landlady. She has a tough exterior but is friendly and welcoming. She lives for her pub. She cares for Rav like a son and she is sensitive under her tough exterior. Must be willing to be bar trained and serve customers before the performance.
Rav – Male, 20s to 40s (around 20 years younger than Kathy). Larger than life, very camp and charming quizmaster and barman. The life and soul of the party. Quick witted and funny. Can be tough if he needs to be. Must be willing to be bar trained and serve customers before the performance. Shares a stage kiss with Fran.
Bobby – Male, 40s to 60s (a similar age to Kathy). Kathy’s estranged brother, who has come to find her on the last night on earth. He is bitter about his upbringing and her success running the pub. He comes across as grumpy and sarcastic at first, but we see his softer side towards the end.
Fran – Female, 20s to 40s (the same age as Rav). Rav’s ex-girlfriend from his teens. Naïve and with low confidence, she has come looking for one last shot at love. She spends large parts of the play angry and upset. Shares a stage kiss with Rav.
Due to the immersive nature of the play, all actors must be confident at learning lines but also ad-libbing, interacting with audience and remembering audience names.
